ENRG's investment strategy includes assessment against SDG 17 "Partnership for the Goals".

This goal recognises that the SDGs can only be met if stakeholders work together and is why community and stakeholder engagement is an important aspect of ENRGs investment strategy. The operating partners have responsibility for implementing a stakeholder plan that maps key stakeholder and identifies engagement strategies commensurate with operations.

The operational context of each asset directs engagement strategies. In Brazil the distributed solar PV sites provides reliable energy, often to remote communities. The hydro facility is located in close proximity to a remote village which was first built to house construction workers in the 1960s. The US terminal storage facility is in Brownsville on the Texas – Mexico border. The city has one of the highest poverty rates in the US and high unemployment rates, with many young people living in poverty.

At the hydro facility community engagement has centred around dam safety, and education initiatives for schools on clean energy and environmental issues.

The aim of community activities is to introduce the new operators to local communities, open channels of communication and build trust.

Community engagement in Brazil solar portfolio has focussed on engaging local communities around the sites to educate on the operating partner, create open dialogue and manage issues to better understand impact on the investments.

Communities have welcomed the regeneration of infrastructure and opportunities for development and employment.

In Texas, the facility provides job opportunities and benefits to the local community. In addition local community engagement is focussed on giving back to communities where employees live and work through volunteer hours and philanthropic activities at local elementary schools and food banks to support those in need.

Operating partners are committed to ongoing collaboration and meaningful engagement with communities and stakeholders. To drive positive social impact and sustainable development outcomes.
